Come and see the most talked about series in the Valley!
Cinefest is an independent film series brought to you by CV Arts and the Toronto International Film Circuit. The series runs from September through June.
A wide offering of Canadian and International films and documentaries are shown at Pynelogs Cultural Centre in Invermere.
Tickets are available at the door for $10. Season’s passes are also available for $40, which includes admission to five films.
The Pynelogs Cultural Centre is located at Kinsmen Beach in Invermere. All films begin at 7:00 pm.

Fri. Oct 23 - 7 pm - One Week
Canada
Ben has a terminal illness. What should he do? What would you do? He gets on
his motorcycle and journeys from Toronto to Tofino. Along the way, he visits
many of Canada’s iconic and lesser- known landmarks.
Sat. Oct 24 - 7 pm - Easy Virtue
United Kingdom
Larita is a Jazz Age race-car driver. After impulsively tying the knot she
travels to England to meet her groom’s privileged and batty family who hate
her. They do their best to banish the shocking new wife. Bordering on glee,
the director brings wit and style to this sparkling Noel Coward confection.
Sun. Oct 25 - 3 pm - Finn on the Fly
Canada
A madcap comedy about friendship, loyalty and the virtues of being true to
oneself. Finn, a “boy’s best friend” is transformed into a human – but he’s
really still a dog at heart. Boasting wonderfully hilarious slapstick
scenes, Finn on the Fly will leave you breathless with laughter.
Tue. Nov 17 - 7 pm – Empties
Czech with English subtitles
After trying a couple of jobs suited to his qualifications, the retired
curmudgeon takes up a position at the bottle-return booth in the local
supermarket. Josef finds his real calling as a good-hearted but meddlesome
cupid who tries to fulfill the lives of his family, friends and
acquaintances.
Tue. Jan 19 - 7 pm - Goodbye Solo
USA
A Senegalese taxi driver befriends his 70-year-old passenger, who has a
tragic plan for the end of his trip. Solo is one of the most remarkable
characters in recent cinema. This “it takes a village” approach to life is
anathema to William, who harbours pain, secrets and a desire for privacy,
all of which keep him at odds with Solo.
Tue. Feb 16 - 7 pm - The Band's Visit
Israel/France
A Egyptian police band becomes lost in rural Israel on their way to a
performance. They unexpectedly encounter not only tensions and friendships
with townspeople, but valuable lessons when cultural assumptions are shaken.
Good-natured and warm while avoiding sentimentality.
Tue. Mar 16 - 7 pm – Departures
Japanese with English Subtitles
Daigo thinks he is applying for a job at a travel agency, when in fact, the
ad is meant to say “the departed.”. His job is in a mom-and-pop burial
company offers a glimpse into the specialized world of the “death business”
but also to one family’s struggle to make it in a complicated modern world.
