CV Arts Annual and Special Events
Arts Calendar > Browse by Special Events
Every season, CV Arts throws some great parties. The biggest and best of these is our annual fundraiser, the Mountain Mosaic Festival of Arts. Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre in September 2007 was also a huge success! A new fundraiser event on August 3rd, the CV Arts Tour will feature an artist studio tour from Radium to Dutch Creek, celebrating the talents of our local artists. A Passport will be available to purchase to guide you through the tour where it will conclude with a reception at Pynelogs Cultural Centre in Invermere. Performing artists, a gallery show, tours of the botanical garden and creative refreshments are planned for this late afternoon gathering on the shore of Lake Windermere.
To thank our members for being members, we host a Members Only Evening every year. March is Membership month…if you are not on our mailing list, please contact us for more information on how to purchase your CV Arts Membership.
Here’s what’s coming up later in the season!

PyneStock – 2 Hours of Peace & Music
Highly successful youth concert, a dozen local twenty-somethings have gotten together and decided to arrange improvisational, creative, and never-before-heard compositions. With a smidgen of classical, two scoops of rock, and three giant helpings of who-the-heck-knows what genre, PyneStock is going to be a nine-layer dip of entertainment.

Honoring a “Retrospective” of local potter: Pauline Newhouse
Artist Retrospective Celebration: July 21 from 7 – 9 pm
Honoring a “Retrospective” of long time local potter, Pauline Newhouse.
“I trained as a nurse at the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital married my husband Joe and we raised four children. Then, in the 70s I took up “potting.” I studied Fine Arts at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and majored in sculpture. For the past 35 years I have exhibited in Alberta and BC. Ever since Joe and I retired to our Lillian Lake residence in 1985, I have had the pleasure of showing my work at Pynelogs Cultural Centre in Invermere, BC. I am much honored to have traveled to my home town of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan in 2005 to attend the opening of a “state of the art” Gallery donated to the community by Dr. William Shurniak. It will house his own art collection as well as provide a cultural centre for the art community. My sculpture titled “Three Sisters” was unveiled at the opening ceremonies. It is a tribute to our parents from myself and my two sisters. It is in the Shurniak Gallery’s permanent collection.
I’ve enjoyed another year in my “Clay Studio” creating functional as well as sculptural pieces. My gas-fired kiln has been performing exceptionally well. It has been producing interesting colours in the stoneware glazes. I fire to cone 9 ½ (2350 F) in a “reducing” atmosphere and use various oxides over basic white and a scrap glaze. My sculptural pieces are mostly unglazed on the exterior and are burnished with iron oxide.”
Please join us in celebrating the successes of our talented local potter on Monday July 21st at 7 pm.
