I have been painting since my early twenties. I took art classes at the University of Alberta while studying for my education degree and have also taken various workshops over the past 30 years. I started with drawings and oil paintings doing mountain scenes and still life. I later switched to watercolours and did some fabric paintings for a few years specializing in theme shirts for a boutique in Calgary. For a couple of years I worked with a partner doing wall art in peoples homes and businesses, with a focus on theme rooms for children. I moved to exclusively doing watercolour paintings with a wide variety of subject matter including flowers, birds, fish, bugs, fairies, buildings and my current passion; peoples pets in vibrant colours. My style has changed over the years and I now do varnished watercolours. I adhere the watercolour paper to a wood cradle board with a 1″ edge that I varnish when the painting is done so the art does not need to be framed. Painting is my happy place and when I am painting time just flies by.
