DRUM MAKING

Each participant will learn to make a 10” aboriginal hand drum made from deer rawhide, a maple wood drum frame, and rawhide lace which the participant will be able to keep upon completion of the workshop. After the participant makes their drum, a discussion of materials & drum design will conclude the workshop. All materials provided.

JAZZY JOURNALS AND SKETCHBOOKS!

Collage and decorate the cover of a hardback journal to make an awesome personal creation to keep your thoughts in. Participants will also make 2 more cool books for sketching or writing secrets, dreams, or wishes! We'll be creative by using ALL kinds of papers and supplies like jewels, buttons, ribbon, stickers, feathers and fur!! All materials are supplied, so you just need to show up and have fun!

This workshop is beginner friendly to introduce you to the many advantages of digital photography and explain the features of your particular digital camera and how they will work best to meet the needs of your style of photography for better pictures

UNCOVERING POSSIBILITIES

This is an 'arts combo' session for adults who want to strengthen or stretch their creativity. Fun for anyone! Gently guided with discussion and demonstration of techniques; participants will take a journey into an abstract or non-objective project. We will use mixed media and some unusual techniques for applying color and creating textures. Low organization for class! A supply list of minimal and easy to acquire materials will be provided. Most supplies are included, so just relax and show up!

PRECIOUS METALS CLAY WORKSHOP - FINE SILVER PENDANT

The introductory or Beginners Class teaches the basics. You will learn to create a pendant from start to finish. An overview of the different types of PMC will be explained in addition to numerous examples of the potential of Precious Metal Clay. Everything will be provided to create your .999 silver piece - you will do your own firing and take home your project that day. You will have fun in this class, as you turn your ideas into fine silver jewelry.

ENCAUSTIC WAX WORKSHOP

Encaustic wax is a wonderful medium for both the experienced artist and the novice because you can always change things that you do not like. Heat is the solvent, so any wax colours can be "unfrozen” at any future time. The waxes can be reworked or removed, added to or abraded. The creativity of this medium is unending. When you try this medium it will stimulate your imagination. No experience necessary

PAINTING DREAMS

The elusive and magical properties of watercolor make it the perfect medium to engage the imagination. One can float into a world of color and find that it takes you to magical worlds. This workshop will teach skills, but more importantly it will emphasize fun and personal expression while working on individual and group pieces. No experience necessary.

WATERCOLOUR FLOWS: THE POURING METHOD

This exciting workshop will include three kinds of pours using watercolor. This method helps retain brilliant color and keeps the damage of the paper to a minimum. With just a few transparent combinations the results are astounding. Brushes don’t touch the work till the very end! How? Come and learn. All levels will have fun and be amazed at their creations.

RAKU FOR ANYONE…AGE 8 to 80.
Experience is not a pre-requisite

Day 1: Participants will work with clay using hand-building techniques.
Day 2: The bisqued work will be glazed and fast fired and cooled (out door kiln). Bring a favorite texture-making tool...e.g. comb, fork, pencil. Don't wear your best clothes!

Let’s explore the limits of acrylics together. I will show you traditional methods as well as non-traditional. There will be demonstrations, time for your own experimenting, and one-on-one help with all new methods. Is there a limit to this wonderful medium? You be the judge!

IKEBANA: INTERMEDIATE - THE ART OF JAPANESE FLOWER ARRANGING ARRANGING

Explore the intermediate to advance technique in the Art of Ikebana Japanese flower arranging. Japanese IKEBANA is based on ‘Zen’ philosophy, which emphasizes simplicity, serenity and harmony in our life. This promises to be a wonderful, relaxing workshop. Japanese Flower arrangement is different from the Western Floral arrangement. Be sure to register early for this special afternoon. Supply list available at registration. Chizuko Purschwitz has a master’s certificate of Ikebana from the Shugetsu Ikebana School in Japan.

PLEIN-AIR TO STUDIO PAINTING WORKSHOP (THE NEXT STEP)

This Workshop is for Beginner to Intermediate-level artists converting Plein-air painting to finished work, in the medium of their choice. Colin will give guidance in painting the Columbia Valley landscape in the studio, after a day of out-of-doors work. Colin is an accomplished Plein-air artist in all seasons and landscapes.
