| Saturday, July 12th | DRUM MAKING Each participant will learn to make a 10” aboriginal hand drum made from deer rawhide, a maple wood drum frame, and rawhide lace which the participant will be able to keep upon completion of the workshop. After the participant makes their drum, a discussion of materials & drum design will conclude the workshop. All materials provided.

Gently guided with discussion and demonstration of techniques; participants will take a journey into an abstract or non-objective project. We will use mixed media and some unusual techniques for applying color and creating textures. Low organization for class! A supply list of minimal and easy to acquire materials will be provided. Heat is the solvent, so any wax colours can be "unfrozen” at any future time. The waxes can be reworked or removed, added to or abraded. The creativity of this medium is unending. When you try this medium it will stimulate your imagination. No experience necessary

| Saturday August 30th | IKEBANA: INTERMEDIATE - THE ART OF JAPANESE FLOWER ARRANGING ARRANGING Explore the intermediate to advance technique in the Art of Ikebana Japanese flower arranging. Japanese IKEBANA is based on ‘Zen’ philosophy, which emphasizes simplicity, serenity and harmony in our life. This promises to be a wonderful, relaxing workshop. Japanese Flower arrangement is different from the Western Floral arrangement. Be sure to register early for this special afternoon. Supply list available at registration. Colin will give guidance in painting the Columbia Valley landscape in the studio, after a day of out-of-doors work. Colin is an accomplished Plein-air artist in all seasons and landscapes.
